Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of kitchen operations. This role is essential in ensuring that our kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of our restaurant or dietary department. As a Prep Cook, you will assist in menu planning, food handling, and preparation, ensuring high standards of quality and safety.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and measuring.
- Follow recipes and instructions from the head chef or kitchen manager to ensure consistency in food quality.
- Help with menu planning by suggesting seasonal ingredients and creative ideas.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of food items.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and proper food handling techniques at all times.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during meal periods.
- Support the culinary team in various tasks as needed, including cooking simple dishes or assisting with plating.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a food preparation role within the food industry is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food handling practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
